Build Skills in Health Care Quality
PQA supports current and future leaders in health care quality through a variety of learning and professional development opportunities. PQA’s programs provide students, recent graduates and full-time professionals education and training on health care quality, medication use quality, measure development and implementation, research and education in a non-profit association setting.
The PQA Postdoctoral Fellowship produces the next generation of leaders in health care quality through a full-time, 12-month program based in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. PQA fellows collaborate across the organization and with a wide variety of stakeholders at a national level to impact the quality of care patients receive with an emphasis on the quality of medication use. The program’s foundation begins with the fellows’ interests to develop skills in:
- Health care quality research
- Medication use quality education
- Non-profit administration and association management
- Quality measure development and use
- Project management
PQA offers supervised applied practice experience opportunities to Master of Public Health (MPH) students seeking to fulfill their school’s MPH graduation requirements. The program supports the development of skills in one or more of the following areas that are aligned with PQA’s mission to advance the quality of medication use:
- Quality Measurement
- Health Services Research and Policy Evaluation
- Communications
- Stakeholder Engagement
The PQA Summer Executive Internship is a competitive, paid summer executive internship that provides experience in non-profit association management with an emphasis on health care quality and a focus on:
- Education
- Member Communications
- Medication Use Quality Initiatives
- Stakeholder Engagement
PQA offers a competitive experiential rotation that provides opportunities in several focus areas, including:

The PQA Kelman Quality Leadership Program helps individuals at various career stages become leaders in health care quality that is focused on safe, effective and appropriate medication use. Through education, training and mentorship, the program has components for students, early career professionals and emerging leaders that support long-term professional development and advancement towards leadership positions.
