PQA Quality Shadowing Program

The PQA Quality Shadowing Program provides individuals the opportunity to observe nomination-based panels to gain knowledge that can support selection for and participation in future panels. This opportunity is designed for early career professionals and individuals who are interested in quality but have not had opportunities to participate in formal PQA measure development and stewardship activities.

Individuals selected to participate in the 2027 program will be assigned to shadow the PQA Quality Metrics Expert Panel or the PQA Measure Update Panel. Visit the PQA Measure Lifecycle page to learn more about these panels

Program Eligibility

To be considered for the shadowing program, individuals must:

  • Be employed by a PQA member organization.
  • Have not been previously selected to serve on a PQA nomination-based panel.
  • Be able to serve for the program’s duration, January-December, and attend monthly panel meetings.
  • Complete the program’s online nomination form and provide:
    • A brief statement on how participating aligns with your interests in medication use quality and would support your professional development, and
    • A statement of support from your organization’s PQA Primary Contact. (If you are uncertain who your organization’s primary contact is, email PQA at Engagement@PQA.org.)

Program Activities

Individuals who are selected for the shadowing program will:

  • Complete baseline training in Medication Use Quality.
  • Attend a program orientation meeting.
  • Attend monthly PQA panel meetings in an observational capacity.
  • Have access to a PQA staff liaison to answer questions or provide program support.
  • Receive a scholarship to attend the 2027 PQA Annual Meeting.
  • Have the opportunity to participate in networking and other activities related to the shadowing program.
