Advancing Medication Therapy Management Quality Measurement
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requires Medicare Part D plan sponsors to establish a medication therapy management (MTM) program designed to ensure covered Part D drugs are appropriately used to optimize therapeutic outcomes through improved medication use and to reduce the risk of adverse events. PQA launched a national initiative in 2023 aimed at improving the quality and measurement of MTM services. The report presents a call to action describing the critical actions necessary to improve the quality and measurement of MTM services.
