Five for Friday December 19: Celebrating Success in Advancing Medication Use Quality

The PQA Board of Directors has adopted the goals and objectives of PQA’s next strategic plan, Blueprint PQA 2030, which will guide our work from 2026 through 2030. This follows our highly successful Leadership Summit, where PQA members provided insights and guidance on the strategies and tactics that will be important for our success in the coming years.

I want to extend my sincere appreciation and thanks to you for your engagement, support and contributions to this plan. We look forward to sharing more and working with you in the New Year. Learn more below.

We also highlight our members’ perspectives on ntegrating data, diabetes and new measures under consideration. If you have news you’d like for us to spotlight in an upcoming Five For Friday, send us an email!

Integrating Data from Disparate Sources

The number of disparate places we receive data from can be tricky for providers to navigate. Kilee Yarosh from EnlivenHealth‘s Omnicell shares insights: “As health systems grow, it’s becoming more important to connect the entire pharmacy care enterprise to support safe, effective medication management. Cloud-native platforms provide a connected backbone for technology systems across an enterprise, while also offering scalability…”

Driving Diabetes Outcomes

SCAN Health‘s Bahar Davidoff provides insights on how community pharmacies can transition from a focus on prescription dispensing revenue to a successful clinical service model that includes diabetes care. Speaking with PQS by Innovaccer, she discusses the value of pharmacies documenting blood pressure and blood sugar values for payers and providers.

Considering New Measures

The “2025 Measures Under Consideration (MUC) List” is now available from the Centers for Medicare & Medicare Services on the Measures Management System (MMS) Hub. The publication includes an Excel file detailing measures specifications, along with the “2025 MUC List Overview,” a PDF that summarizes the MUC List process and provides high-level information. The list is relevant for the Merit-based Incentive Payment System and the Medicare Promoting Interoperability Program.

Blueprint PQA 2030

PQA’s next strategic plan, Blueprint PQA 2030, will guide the organization’s work from 2026 through 2030. These three goals are focused on the largest and most timely opportunities facing PQA and its multi-stakeholder member organizations, who are working across the industry to improve the quality of medication use and outcomes.

Goal 1: Deliver innovative solutions to advance quality medication use for a person-centered and value-based health care system.

Goal 2: Advance the quality of medication management services to improve patient outcomes through pharmacist-provided and team-based care.

Goal 3: Achieve organizational excellence through structure, processes and technology that deliver exceptional value to members, stakeholders and staff.
